We're moving!!

Ok, so this is TOTALLY not news if you actually know me, but just in case there's anyone out there reading my blog whom I don't talk to on a regular basis, I can finally publicly discuss how I'm going to check a few items off my 30 before 30 list!

Taylor and I are moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan!!! About a year ago, Taylor started studying to take the GMAT, which is the standardized test that you have to take to apply to business school. At the time, I really didn't realize that this seemingly innocuous endeavor would actually amount to a big life change for us, but I'm so glad it did!

Taylor spent the entire fall working on Business School applications. In his school search process, Michigan quickly moved to the top of the list for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the program there really matches his interests and it's only about an hour away from my family! He applied to a few schools in January and was invited to interview in February. Later that month, he got admitted to Vanderbilt, which was really exciting because we both really love Nashville. Then, after many months of waiting, he got admitted to Michigan on May 10! Yay!

We could not be happer for this opportunity to move closer to family and friends and live in one of the best college towns in the country! Both of us applied to Michigan when we were considering universities for Undergrad, but for various reasons it didn't work out (good thing because we would never have met!). I've always been a Michigan fan over Ohio State, so it will be nice to become official Wolverines! Taylor even gets season football tickets (well, he gets the OPPORTUNITY, we still have to pay for them, and we only get one...bummer :).

We already have an apartment which costs about half of what we're paying in New York and is almost 3 times as big! Crazy!

I am going to continue my current job in a remote capacity, which really is phenomenal and I'm so lucky to be able to have this continuity and continue to do something I really enjoy.

So, as part of this big move, I plan to cross the following off the list:
  • Move to a new city
  • Get a dog - I have been wanting to do this for a long time and we'll finally have the space. We made sure that the place we picked to live allows dogs, so as soon as we get settled, we're going to start looking for a medium-to-large dog that I can take running with me! Photos will most certainly follow!
  • Buy a car (new or used) that I love - This one may or not happen depending on whether the car we buy (we have to get something) is truly lovable...we'll see if the budget allows. If not, we have an opportunity to do this one after Taylor finishes school, which will be JUST before the big 3-OH.
  • Spend a day at a spa - Once we get settled with all of the moving, I'm going to need a break, so I plan to spend a day at the beauty school my sister attended in Ann Arbor and get ALL of their spa treatments.
There will definitely be more things that I check off soon, but these are the ones related to the move :) Stay tuned!

10 years ago today...

Ten years ago today I graduated from Perryburg High School! Crazy that it's been that long!

My apologies for the lack of updates in the last couple weeks! We have a lot going on, but I can't post it all yet in a public forum, unfortunately. I can tell you, though, that it involves checking about 5 items off my 30 before 30 list in the next 3 months, which I'm really excited about! Stay tuned. I promise there will be more soon!

In the meantime, here are some highlights of what we've been up to lately:

First off, I'm really good at bowling. Taylor is good, too, but I'm REALLY good. Hehe, here are some scores. The first one shows that I scored a 159 average over 2 games and the second is a game where I got a 174 (Player 1). Obviously, there's a little jest here because bowling is about the most useful skill I've ever realized I have, so here goes nothing!

We ran in to 2 boys hanging up poems around the city. I liked this one:

Yesterday, Taylor and I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and got pizza at Grimaldi's with some friends. It was a beautiful day and really fun!
