My dress for a wedding in 2 weeks...

What do you think!?

Oh, don't worry, it's not that short! They shortened it for the runway :)

It's a lot like this one.

SORRY!

Ok, so I know it's been forever, but I blame blogger. The "Sign-in" link from my blog hasn't been working and I just finally took the time to navigate through the back end so I can sign-in and make a post.

And I know I totally owe you a story about the boy who tried to pick me up on the street 2 weeks ago, which - as irony would have it - was 5 years to the day from the last time I could remember being picked up.

Basically I was walking back to my building (this is when I still worked in Manhattan) from a meeting in another building. On my way in to Starbucks this guy starts calling me. He was pretty clean cut and not too sketchy looking, so I stopped, assuming that he wanted to ask me for directions (the financial district, unlike the rest of Manhattan, is pretty confusing, so asking for directions is acceptable). Well, i quickly figured out that he was actually trying to pick me up. The course of our conversation has two distinct segments: 1) the part where he told me a fake story and 2) the part where he engages me in conversation and makes "the ask."

To Summarize:

1) the part where he told me a fake story
  • He needs help, his friend in Australia is having a problem and he needs a woman's opinion
  • His friend is about to get engaged and they are about to take engagement photos..
  • His friend's almost Fiance is a model who recently took a trip tot he Bahamas.
  • While in the Bahamas and applying sunscreen, his friend's fiance got a phone call and forgot to finish applying sunscreen.
  • Now she has red spots all over her body (they call her pizza face) and his friend isn't sure if he should cancel the pictures...
2) the part where he engages me in conversation and makes "the ask"
  • I learned many things about my would-be suitor including:
    • his first name is Nitin (which, gasp, is a palindrome)
    • he speaks French (which he proceeded to demonstrate for me even though I don't understand French)
    • he had ordered a breakfast sandwich and wanted me to talk to him while he waited
    • he went to Wharton business school at the University of Pennsylvania
    • he was captain of his soccer team
I'm sorry, I've waited so long to write this that I can't remember more. Hopefully I will soon!

~Pause~

Sorry, must pause that story to show you a picture of the view from my new office on the 34th floor of our new building in Jersey City...NOT BAD! Oh, that's the Statue of Liberty there right in the middle. You might have heard of it!

Here's a little about the building: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldman_Sachs_Tower

Yep, that's where I work!

Bet you thought NYC was getting boring...

Well, you'd be wrong!! I'm just lazy and haven't blogged in awhile. I'm sorry! I need to re-cap my antics of late, so here's my best attempt.

Last weekend was pretty uneventful.

Last week, I got my 1-year raise at work and worked quite a few hours (for me), therefore leading to an un-eventful week. EXCEPT...Friday had a little bit of action.

Friday was actually my 5th anniversary with Taylor (I know...(hey, he'll never read this, I can say what I want!)). Well there's some irony to this story that I'll just share up front.

On the day of my first date with Taylor (January 11, 2003), I had to work at Rand Cafeteria (where I worked my first two years of college) and while there, one of my co-workers asked me out. Now, I'd been wanting to go out with Taylor for a while, but I agreed to an early pre-date with this boy....figuring it woudl loosen me up so I wasn't so nervous. So, I picked him up (no car....he was a winner, but then Taylor didn't have one either) and we went to this Indian restaurant, returning with just enough time for me to change into jeans and a T-shirt to go watch the Vanderbilt Basketball game with Taylor (which was followed by ice skating, cokes at Tin Angel, and the Wedding Singer).

ANYWAY, so that's the last time I can remember being asked out....5 years to the day before last Friday. Which is precisely when a nice young man stopped me on Wall Street and proceeded in try to work the same magic on me...and almost succeed.

Unfortunately, it's late and I MUST get to sleep...I will finish this tomorrow ;-)

So far, so good

Well, it hasn't been easy but I have made it to the end of day 2 of this crazy diet. Just an update. It's harder than I thought, I managed to stick to it (almost) despite visiting three Mexican restaurants today, and I've become a pretty good cook in the process!

I haven't weighed myself since I started, but I feel like I must have lost weight because I'm always a little hungry. Haha. So as for my meals so far. I've had things like:

-Spinach quiche, eggs, omelets and Canadian bacon for breakfast
-Salad, chicken, fish for lunch
-String cheese, turkey roll-ups, and vegetables and hummus for snacks
-Salmon, salad, asparagus, and shrimp for desert
-Sweetened ricotta cheese and sugar-free gelatin for desert

I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
